Scholarship program in Chile opens doors to mining for women
鈥嬧嬧嬧嬧嬧嬧婭n collaboration with registered training partner Cefomin, 电竞博彩推荐鈥 team in Chile has launched an inaugural scholarship program for women interested in a potential career in mining.

电竞博彩推荐鈥 Training Coordinator in Chile, Carla Segovia,听is a key member of the team听who听was involved听in developing the program听that launched in听January this year.
Carla听said听it can be especially challenging for women to enter听an industry, like mining, which is predominantly a male environment.
"Our goals have always been very clear in Chile, and that is to听support and give back to the community, and in our听region听we have the chance to do that,鈥 Carla said.
鈥淭he scholarship program allows us to听give people, in a听vulnerable听position, and particularly women,听a听chance听to听become licensed forklift drivers, riggers and boom crane operators.
鈥淭hese听are all roles that are sought at mine sites and are transferable across a number of industries.
鈥淲e鈥檙e committed to giving women more听opportunities, so in this program 18 out of the 22 positions听available were filled by women听who had no previous experience or training听in a skilled trade.
鈥淚t鈥檚 been excellent to watch them听gain confidence and听new听skills听that will听allow them to pursue careers they may have never thought possible before.鈥澨

Making a difference

Majorie听Perez was one of the听participants听of the scholarship program who said听it had opened听doors to an听industry听she had always听aspired to work听in.
鈥淚 first learnt about the opportunity through an Instagram post by听Cefomin听advertising the 电竞博彩推荐 scholarship program," Majorie said.
鈥淚鈥檝e听always wanted to operate听some kind of machinery, but I didn鈥檛 have听the means听to pay for training, so this looked like a great way to gain听that skill.
鈥淣ow that I鈥檝e completed the program, I feel very capable and proud听of what I鈥檝e achieved.
鈥淚鈥檓 now a certified听forklift driver听and听it鈥檚 been added to my resume.
鈥淚鈥檓 optimistic that I will get a job as an operator听鈥 I鈥檝e already received several calls and have advanced in the recruitment process for some听of these听roles.
鈥淯nfortunately听with COVID-19 there has been some delays, but I鈥檓 sure something will come from it.
鈥淭he program was such a great opportunity, because I could not have afforded this听on my own.
鈥淭here was a lot of women in the听group听which was fantastic to see, and I have kept in touch with a few of them.
