Take 5 with Mt Arthur people leader John Hamson

John Hamson takes pride in his team’s ability to maximise opportunities, challenge ideas and embed innovative, smart strategies. 

As Production Manager at our Mt Arthur project, John is responsible for leading a large operational team that prioritises sustainable and profitable resource recovery. 

“As a team, we strive to be the best in the business by speaking up and challenging the way we do things and hold ourselves accountable for our results,” John said. 

“We’re always looking for opportunities to improve and contribute our skills, knowledge and experience to benefit the outcomes of our project.”  

A plant mechanic by trade, John is grateful for the opportunities he’s experienced throughout his career and for being able to fulfil his passion every day. 

“I get to go to work every day and do something I love,” John said.

Outside of work, John attributes his personal growth and success to the love and support of his wife Kim. 

“I’ve had the opportunity to work with some exceptional leaders throughout my career, but it’s my wife who has really helped support me and my dreams,” John said. 

“She’s always valued my opinion, encouraged me to work and taught me to always treat others how you want to be treated.”
